You are trying your best to be fit and healthy, so should you give up alcohol? My answer is no, but…moderation is key here. If you tend to go overboard, then maybe you should stay away from it altogether. For occasional drinkers, a bottle of beer or a glass of wine can be quite beneficial.
If you’ve been reading my posts, you already know that beer is a great recovery drink and when used strategically for that purpose, it can be a great nutritional and healthy part of your life. Beer has many other health benefits including lowering blood pressure, reducing risks of type 2 diabetes, preventing kidney stones and so much more.
And it’s not just beer that has all the benefits…
It’s already been proven that a glass of red wine is very beneficial to your overall health due to resveratrol. This powerful antioxidant protects your cells from damage, improves muscle strength and physical performance at the gym. It also seems to play a role in longevity and lowering risks of various health problems like heart disease, stroke and various different cancers.
So, to recap, please practice moderation but by all means grab a beer after a long run or go out for dinner with your friends and family and enjoy a drink or two knowing that you are still doing a great job maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Mazel Tov!
