You’ve heard it said. “You are what you eat!” I’ll add to that. “You look what you eat!” Premature aging, dry scaly skin, dull colour, and acne are all related to what you eat. What you feed your body will manifest itself on the outside. Until you fix your diet, don’t even think you can buy some magical cream that can make it all go away. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying it doesn’t matter what creams you put on your skin. You should only use good quality creams and lotions since total health is everything you do for your body inside and out. My point is that if your diet is poor, there isn’t a cream out there that can fix that.
I previously talked about vinegar and its detoxifying qualities so if you’ve been eating poorly and your skin shows it, start by detoxing first. Drink water with lemon or lime slices on a regular basis. Then begin adjusting your food intake so that you feed your skin all the nutrients it desperately needs to repair itself. Some of the major adjustments you will need to make is to say goodbye to anything deep fried and greasy. Add plenty of fresh produce particularly berries to your everyday diet. Berries are very high in anti oxidants and you need to start by cleansing your skin first.
There are some foods that are particularly good for collagen production and plumping of your skin, adding glow and youthful colour. Those are in the orange category. So, basically add oranges, pumpkins, butternut squashes, persimmons, canteloupes and sweet potatoes to your food intake. Check out my butternut squash recipe. Feed your skin by consuming good quality food, packed with much needed nutrition, and your skin will thank you for it. As an added benefit, people will start telling you that you look younger than your age!
