Couples who work out together…

picture2Keep on working out together!  Today is my 18th year wedding anniversary and we’ve spent it at the Title Boxing gym because it keeps us in great shape after all these years and also because it gives us a common interest and an activity we can share together.

It is a challenge sometimes to keep things interesting at the gym and in marriage so I would encourage couples to try new and interactive activities like boxing, dancing, tennis, etc.  Find something you both like and do it on a regular basis.  You will enjoy getting better and better together and it will give you an activity you can both enjoy.

picture4At the gym it can get really boring to just get on a treadmill and zone out.  Or maybe you’ve lifting weights and are stuck in the same routine for too long.  It’s time to change things up.  You can take a class, learn new exercises and challenge your muscles in a new way.  I’m sure you’ve heard it said that muscle needs to get “surprised” periodically.  If you’ve been doing the same exercises for too long, you might notice that your muscles don’t seem to be budging.  And this is precisely why it’s a great idea to do something completely different.  Watch how all of a sudden your muscles will get sore but in a different way.

We have more muscles than we realize and if you want that awesome definition, you need to do a lot of different exercises to hit on as a many muscles as possible.  If all that you’ve been doing is running, start lifting weights.  And if all that you’ve been doing is lifting, start some sort of cardio routine.  Even if you are in great shape and do both, you can still benefit from shaking up your routine and taking a class that will force you out of your comfort zone.  Keep it interesting and keep on learning new things.
