Yikes! What did I eat?
We’ve all been there. You had some bad shrimp or under-cooked eggs. Then there’s always salmonella poisoning we hear about. And now you feel horrible with all the nasty symptoms making you feel like it’s your last day on earth. You have no idea what to do but you just want it to go away.
First let’s try to understand what happened. It’s actually very simple. Toxins have invaded your body and your body’s natural response to is to flush it out in every way possible. You may think there’s nothing you can do but take some over the counter drugs and just wait it out in utter misery. But in reality you can help speed up the recovery and reduce the uncomfortable symptoms in the process.
I always say don’t take any drugs of any kind and the same is true here. Your body is an amazing self healing mechanism. You already got toxins in your body, let‘s not further poison it with drugs but let’s help the recovery in an immune-boosting way that will make you stronger in the future.
Drinking water, tea, and diluted juices should be your first go-to remedies since you probably can’t stomach anything in the initial stages. But once the nausea has subsided a little, try apple sauce. The thing with apples that is so effective is pectin. Pectin absorbs toxins from your body and removes them while solidifying the waste in the process. Dry toast can be tried next if you feel hungry. As you start to feel stronger and hungrier, add starchy rice, mashed potatoes and bananas. Do not eat anything else. Now is not the time to eat what you would normally eat since your body can’t handle it.
Don’t be a hero and attempt to go to work or do some chores around the house. Rest is extremely important in cases like this. And most importantly, do not attempt to stop the natural reaction of your body to get rid of toxins. This is how your body was designed. Interfering with this process will make you to feel sicker and may cause complications.
