So what I hear a lot from people who are out of shape is that they started one program or another, usually some 30 day or so gimmicky get-fit-quick thing to lose weight. This usually involves intense every day training and supposed to whip you into shape and kick start your new way of life. This is fundamentally so bad for you and will no doubt result in super sore muscles after day 2 which will lead to loss of motivation by day 3. After all that people usually figure that this whole working out is too hard, it’s not for them and they just can’t do it.
Let me begin by saying that I applaud people who want to better their lives and start doing something healthy even if it’s hard. I can’t fault them for trying these gimmicky programs because they are marketed so well and promise so much. In order to understand how much you need to stay away from that, you need to understand how your body responds to change, what kind of change it needs and how much of that change needs to be sustained long term.
Going from zero to 100 in terms of physical activity is never a good idea and will result in failure. It’s been already proven that even walking can be extremely beneficial if done consistently. So if have not been exercising at all, start small and add later. Something is better than nothing. Most importantly, enjoy whatever it is you are doing!
“I have not checked in here for a while since I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are great quality so I guess I will add you back to my everyday bloglist. You deserve it my friend”
Glad to hear it’s not so boring anymore! Thanks!
